I have recently had the pleasure of befriending (via interwebs) the amazing Jimmy Sherfy. You may recognize Jimmy’s ‘Frozen’ cosplay of the heroic Kristoff, which has recently achieved internet fame, but he has many other talents as well! Jimmy’s resume includes acting and voice acting, as well as jobs with various party companies, such as ‘True Enchantment’ and ‘Epic Character Parties’. Jimmy is one of my favorite male cosplayers and I find him extremely interesting, and hopefully you will too! So without further ado, here’s Jimmy to tell you about his cosplay experiences!

Name/Cosplay Name: Jimmy Sherfy
How did you first get into cosplay?:
I’ve been going to San Diego Comic-Con since I was about 12 so I’ve always known about cosplay! Or Anime Expo every since I could drive myself there! I always thought it was really cool but I never had the confidence that I could pull it off. Plus, it sounded like too much of a hassle to deal with at a convention. One year, my boyfriend and I decided to make mascots of Mario characters. We were pretty much hooked immediately.
What do you love most about cosplay?: Honestly, as cheesy as it sounds…. I have made so many friends due to cosplay. Some have become my closets friends and we never would have met if it wasn’t for cosplay! I’ve also made a lot of connections and even landed several jobs due to cosplaying.
How long have you been cosplaying?: Since 2010.
Favorite cosplay memory?: I have a lot! I wore my Flynn Rider costume along with a group of friends to the Tangled premiere. I got to meet some many of the awesome people who worked on the film. That has always stuck out as one of my favorite memories. Last year, at Disney’s D23 Expo, I won an award in the costume contest as Prince Edward from Enchanted. One of the judges had been the costume designer on the movie. We were posing for pictures after everything was over and she was just standing on the side watching. I heard her say to someone “He is such a good Prince Edward. His posing, his hair, his facial expressions, everything!” It was awesome to get such great feed back from someone who helped mold the character that I was cosplaying.

Any other information you’d like to share?: Hmmmm…. I guess I can just say THANK YOU for asking me to do this! As a male cosplayer, we are often under the radar of most folk. So I appreciate all the love.

Make sure to check out Jimmy on Facebook and show him some love! .
